Banjo Basila massed 27 points and Dennis Vinas scored 18 to hand Hanwa Hotel a 79-65 win in the 4th Miller Lite Invitational Basketball Tournament at Gualo Rai.
Jason Bahillo and Peter Lizama couldn’t get their hands on Vinas in the first half as Cellular Pro fell behind, 32-26 by the third quarter.
Vinas missed a couple baskets but that wasn’t a problem. Jaime Wabinga came to the rescue and when he wasn’t there for possession, Jam Navarro charged for four points.
Cellular Pro’s Joe Villacrusis top scored at 30 points, but his efforts alone couldn’t finish the job. Ogie Herrero and the Eric Dulfo added 10 and eight, respectively.
Basila blasted his first and last three-pointer two minutes into the fourth quarter and capped the game with a layup behind Villacrusis.
Dulfo’s last-second attempts resulted in misses – an easy turnover for Hanwa Hotel.
Navarro landed two more baskets for a 10 total. Teammates Bartolome and Julius Tabamo scored six apiece.
