Man beats up wife for joining drinking session

According to a police report, Henry Pangelinan Castro, 49, pulled the hair of the victim as she was sitting on the bench and slapped her on the right side of her face and head.

Castro was charged with assault and battery and disturbing the peace in Superior Court.

Based on detective Peter A. Aldan’s investigation, the victim arrived at their residence in China Town and saw Castro sitting outside their house drinking with his friends.

The victim then sat at the table where her husband was.

He then grabbed the victim on her left shoulder, pulled her out of the table and told her to go inside their house, police said.

The victim told her husband to lay off her as she sat on a bench by the front door of their house.

Castro then followed and assaulted her, police said.

“Henry walked toward her and grabbed and pulled her hair downwards as she was sitting on the bench and slapped her on the right side of her face and head. Henry was stopped and held back by his friends and the victim ran into the house where she used the telephone and called for police assistance,” Aldan said.

Castro followed the victim inside the house and grabbed the phone away from her, Aldan said.

The victim managed to get outside of their house and waited for the police to arrive.

The victim “received a scratch on her right hand and a scratch on her right neck area below her right ear. Crime scene technician Joey Benavente arrived and took photos of her injuries,” Aldan added.
