The Immigration Department warns Tongan nationals that anyone with the fake visa will not be allowed to travel to Hawaii.
The department said it “wishes to advise and warn persons who wish to travel to Hawaii or the U.S. that visas issued by the ‘Kingdom of Hawaii’ are invalid for travel and cannot be used to travel to, or to temporarily remain in the State of Hawaii, or the U.S.”
“Monies collected by the Kingdom of Hawaii for the issue of these visas may be part of a fraudulent scheme,” the department warned.
In addition, the department warned that individuals who attempt to enter the U.S. using a “Kingdom of Hawaii” visa may not be allowed to board an aircraft from Tonga or from any other country, or they may be returned to Tonga or their country of residence, by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
“Persons that attempt illegal entry into the U.S. may face legal action against them,” the department stated.
