Now some thoughts. People are various. Such statements are stereotyped (Russian are too serious, etc). I heard similar things too during trips abroad (the USA, Italy, France). To tell the truth, in Russia they heard less about Marianas. Marianas and Martian sounds almost the same in Russian. But we all know very well about the bottom of the Earth: the Mariana Trench.
Perhaps, is better to learn about each other (if there are interested persons). We can create a Marianas-Russian Society of Postcrossing Friendship.
It should be free of charge (except cost of postcards and stamps). The main target is to exchange postcards and the small story about itself.

Inhabitants of Mariana Islands and Russia can leave the information there (wish-list, e-mail, etc) and to choose for themselves the addresses for further correspondence.
