Elliot’s ‘Pacific Navigator’ tops art contest

“It’s a unique painting that shows the Marianas in yester years,” said Bridge Capital’s principal and chief executive officer John K. Baldwin who was one of the judges.

Greg Elliot, the creator of “Pacific Navigator,” said he  wanted to create a “very authentic” artwork.

“I have been wanting to do something more traditional. I want something that is kind of bringing the past into the painting — a more traditional look  but something that is also a little bit more modern as far as technique is concerned,” he said.

Press Secretary Angel A. Demapan, who was also a judge, said it was amazing to see a lot of young artists participating in the competition.

“I hope they will continue this annual event,” he said, referring to Bridge Capital.
