Saipan, Tinian, and the hosting island of Rota will collide in four divisions: majors, juniors, seniors, and big. The opening ceremony will start at 8:30 a.m. followed by the opening game.
Majors division games will be played at the Ogo Field in Sinapalo. Those in the juniors, seniors, and big divisions will play at the Liyog Baseball Diamond in Songsong.
According to tournament director Mike Borja, Efrain Atalig and acting mayor George Hocog, everything is set with the hard work and leadership of the Rota Little League Association and all volunteers and sponsors for the event.
The winners in the majors division will represent the CNMI at the 2011 Asia-Pacific Regional Tournament in Guam on July 7-15, according to district administrator James Ada. Winners in the junior league will advance to the 2011 Asia-Pacific Regionals in Jakarta Indonesia on June 26-29. Senior and big league winners will go to the Philippines from June 26 to July 1.
All league presidents will act as assistant tournament directors.
Rota All-Stars list released
The Rota Little League’s officials and Board of Directors are proud to announce their recently selected 2011 All-Star teams. They will represent Rota in this weekend’s 15th Annual CNMI District Little League Tournament set for May 27-30.
Representing the majors division’s Rota All-Stars are: Georna Barcinas, Brandon Cabrera, Austin Lizama, Deon, Fidel, and Randall Manglona, Francisco Maratita, Brian, Chrisler, and Noah Mendiola, Coby and Cyan-Kei Ogo, Noah Quitugua, and Terrence Taimanao.
They will be joined by manager Patrick T. Cabrera, head coach Clifford Ogo, and assistant coach Luis Hocog.
In the Rota All-Stars’ junior division are: Rhowan Hizon, Roque Lizama, Brondon and Rovan Manglona, Frank Mesngon, Dannuell and Darien Rangamar, Dane Salazar, Keann Barcinas, Blaise Delos Santos, Alvin Jake King, John Quitugua II, Ian Jacob, and Jaydon Blas.
They are headed by manager Aldrin Orilla, head coach Joel Hocog, and assistant coach Joe Inas King.
The senior division’s All-Stars include: David Dre, Henry, and Christopher Manglona, Dominic Mendiola, Samson and Tasi Lizama, Isaiah, Cody, and Filix Ogo, Harvey and Devin Atalig, Ramon Castro Jr., and Clevin Taisacan.
They will be joined by manager Dean Manglona, head coach Paterno Hocog, and assistant coach Glenn Masga.
In the big division’s All-Stars are: Blaine and Aleton Mesngon, Francisco Toves, Juan Lizama Jr., Jose Lizama, Juan Cablay, Daniel Rangamar Jr., Aldine Mendiola, Vincent Manglona, Austin Masga, Austin Delos Santos, Cisco and Fermington Maratita, Thomas Barcinas Jr., Shane Ogo, and Anton Salazar.
They are headed by manager Oscar Quitugua, head coach Erma Ogo, and assistant coach Myra Ogo.
