The embassy in Manila is also the non-resident French embassy to the FSM.
France has funded many energy-related projects in the FSM and Yap, most notably in the neighboring islands such as Ulithi Atoll.
Under the 2011 French Pacific Fund, the embassy will allocate the $23,000 to implement the project titled “Supporting the development of wind energy in Yap.” The project will develop the means to install, in the future, wind farms across Yap proper.
Legislature to close on Friday
In other news, the Yap State Legislature announced that it will be closed in the afternoon today, April 22, in observance of Good Friday.
The Legislature will be closed at 12 noon, and will resume regular working hours on Monday, April 25.
The Legislature notified all government branches, departments, offices and agencies of the early closure.
Any communications for the Legislature must be submitted before noon Friday.
