House Resolution 17-50, which Rep. Joseph M. Palacios introduced urges Mobil Oil Marianas and Shell Marianas to give the public at least 72 hours notice before raising their gas prices.
Palacios, R-Saipan, said the “uncertainty of our economy recovering from this downward spiral coupled with the steady increase of everyday living costs has created extremely difficult time for a majority of the people living in the commonwealth.”
H.R. 17-51 introduced by Speaker Eli D. Cabrera, R-Saipan, urges Gov. Benigno R. Fitial to ask lending institutions to work with loan borrowers and assist home owners with their mortgages.
This is similar to the resolution authored by Rep. Sylvestre I. Iguel, Covenant-Saipan, last year. Iguel’s resolution, which was adopted by the House amid government payroll delays, is directed to financial institutions like banks.
Cabrera’s resolution also urges the Legislature to support the administration when negotiating with creditors in regards to mortgages.
H.R. 17-48 which Rep. Stanley T. Torres, Ind.-Saipan, introduced expresses full support for Guam-based GTA Services LLC’s efforts to expand its operation to the CNMI by providing telecommunications services to local residents and their government.
H.R. 17-47, which Torres also offered, recognizes and honors the contribution of Joaquina Kinai Deleon Guerrero Salas for nearly 30 years of service as a teacher at San Vicente Elementary School.
After adopting these resolutions, the House skipped the bill calendar, proceeded to miscellaneous business before adjourning.
