Defending champs pull out from Miller Lite league

“It is with reluctance that, we…will officially withdraw our team,” stated Satbahi head coach Marlon Sison in a letter of withdrawal.

The defending champs played only one game so far, where they lost to Pacific Trading Company in the league’s opening game last month. It was in the same match that issues began to stir up between Satbahi’s coaches and the league’s organizers.

“It’s unfortunate and hard for us to accept the wrong decision made by the organizer during the opening game. We are professional in following orders but we are not satisfied on how the process works,” noted Sison in his letter. “For quite a while now we have become less and less satisfied with the situation.”

Games will still continue despite the setback, according to tournament commissioner Sonny Ebuen. The league consisted of 16 (now 15) teams divided into two brackets.

“There’s nothing we can do about it if they want to pull out,” Ebuen said.

The team confirmed its withdrawal with the league’s organizers last month.

“We asked for a resolution, but it is for the better,” Satbahi manager Rey Perez told Variety.

Sison said his players were upset because they wanted to defend their title.
