Marianas Winds Kite Festival moved to April 10

Brilliant Star Montessori School principal Richard Sikkel said a big Bali kite, trophies, gift certificates and other attractive prizes are at stake for winners in the different categories.

Kites are still available for sale ranging from $8 to $15 at Brilliant Star School on Navy Hill, and during the event subject to availability.

A $5 entry fee will entitle each participant to join  the different contest categories such as the highest flying kite, smallest kite, biggest kite, and most eye catching kite.

There may be a separate category for ‘homemade” kites.

“We noticed that a lot of people designed their own kites,” Sikkel said.

The weather turned out perfect last Sunday and a lot of people were at American Memorial Park center ball field flying kites of all sizes, shapes and colors despite the postponement of the event.

The kite festival and food fair is the school’s biggest fundraiser event each year held in cooperation with the Marianas Visitors Authority. To buy kites, or for more information, contact Brilliant Star  at 323-7827.
