Ex-convict on probation positive for drug use

Jeronimo S. Ada, who in 2000 was imprisoned for eight years after pleading guilty to charges of carjacking and robbery, denied he consumed alcohol during an interview following his random drug test on Feb.27.

The sample taken from him on that date appeared to be diluted presumably because he consumed large amounts of fluids prior to the drug test to alter the result, authorities said.

“On Feb. 27, 2011, Mr. Ada submitted to a drug test at the drug testing vendor, which tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine,” court documents stated.

“However, the specimen validity status was diluted, with abnormal creatinine and specific gravity levels, which is indicative of Mr. Ada consuming large amounts of fluids prior to the drug test in order to evade the drug testing results.”

On March 25, when Ada was questioned during his compliance meeting with the U.S. Probation Office, he denied using methamphetamine or ice but admitted drinking lots of water to assist with the voiding process.

The Probation Office has asked the U.S. District Court for the NMI to modify the conditions of his probation.
