“Mr. Joe Ayuyu of McDonald’s wants to host and honor these athletes today, 3:30pm at the McDonald’s restaurant in Chalan Lau Lau,” said meet director Elias Rangamar in an email to the Marianas Variety. “We ask that the coaches of these athletes also be present during the ceremony,” Rangamar added.
For the 8U boys and girls’ category Whisperings Palms Kasai Naoki and Kobler Elem. School’s Maya Ngemaes have been chosen.
The former received three gold medals after toppoing the 800m, 1500m, and the 4x400m medley while the latter received gold in the 200m sprint, 4×100, and 4×400 medley and silver in the 800m run.
In the 10U boys and girls’ category Kobler Elem. School’s Coby Santos and Roca Kasian were chosen. Santos pulled two gold medals in the 100m dash and the 4×100 medley and bagged the silver medal in the 4×400 medley. Kasian received three gold medals in the 1500m run, the softball throw and 4x400m relay race.
In the 12U boys and girls’ category Tanapag Elem School’s Juan Quitugua Jr. and Saipan Community School’s Tammy Ackerman were chosen. Quitugua bagged two gold medals and a silver while long distance runner Ackerman garnered three gold medals and one silver.
In the older 14U boys and girl’s category Hopwood Junior High School’s Juan Babauta and Saipan Community School’s Lydin Johnson were chosen. Babauta bagged three gold medals while the latter reaped three gold medal and two silver.
Marianas High School shines again with all of the competitors for the 18U boys and girls’ top competitor chosen from their roster. Jim Lacsina along with schoolmate Ryan Ichihara has been recognized in the boys’ division while Liamwar Rangamar and fellow schoolmate Rachel Abrams were chosen for the girls’ division.
Lacsina garnered three gold medals and one silver while Ichihara bagged two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze. Rangamar reaped five gold medals in the long jump, javelin, discus, 4x100m, and 4x400m medley race while Abrams garnered five gold medals as well in the 100m dash, 200m dash, high jump, 4x100m, and 4x400m relay race.
