My grandson is only 8 years old but the arithmetic question he wanted me to answer is kind of interesting. I know that maybe some people would think it’s not important, but maybe those persons commenting online can answer it because even me I cannot figure out the answer.
Here is his question. Three guys get a room for the night. The innkeeper charges them $30 for the room. They each pay $10 for the room. The bellhop carries their bags to the room, but the visitors refuse to give him a tip. After returning to the lobby, the innkeeper decides to give the visitors a $5 discount. The innkeeper gives the bellhop $5 to take up to the visitors. On the way up the bellhop decides to pocket $2 for his tip and he gives each of the visitors $1. Therefore, each visitor ended up paying only $9 for the room, but if you think about it, $9 x 3 = $27, then add $2 the bellhop put in his pocket that would be $27 + $2 equals $29. The question is, what happened to the other dollar?
In closing I would like to wish “Good Luck” to those of you making comments on the MV website. Just follow the guidelines.
