“Why should we be stingy?” he asked. “When I give I feel good.”
Fejeran is now 59 but still looks young and is still fulfilling his beloved wife’s wish.
Fr. Ryan Jimenez, Diocese of Chalan Kanoa apostolic administrator, said Fejeran’s volunteer work is very commendable.
Fejeran cleans the cemetery and performs other tasks for the church.
“He’s a person who doesn’t like to be asked. He volunteers — a unique attitude these days,” Jimenez said.
A retired Commonwealth Utilities Corp. employee, Fejeran continues to honor the memories of his wife, Lydia Matsumoto Fejeran, by fulfilling her wish — to share their bounties with the church.
“I will continue to give,” Fejeran vowed.
“Why should I stop giving when I am blessed with good health, time and peace of mind,” he added.
His neighbor, Arlene Romaguera, said Fejeran is generous not only to his family but even to other people.
Sol and Cora Quiatson never forget to greet Fejeran on every special occasion: his birthday, New Year’s Day, Christmas and village fiesta.
“He always invites us all his neighbors to share his food,” they said.
Fejeran lives with his son Alex, 40, in Chalan Kanoa. His daughter Philla Uncangco is now residing on Guam with her husband and child.
While his wife was hospitalized in the Philippines, Fejeran took the advice of a doctor who urged him to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
“I am getting younger because I eat the right food, drink a lot of water and do some exercises,” he said.
Fejeran is hoping that those who gamble and use illegal drugs will consider changing their lifestyle.
They should spend their money on a good cause instead of wasting it on vices, he said.
