KagHS students enlightened by storytelling

Manion, who is O’Laughlin’s mother, said this is her first trip to Saipan where she is now sharing her passion for storytelling.

She considers storytelling an art.

Her method, she tells Variety, includes acting out the story.

She said the students’ listening skills are heightened whenever their interests are captured.

By observing the students in O’Laughlin’s class, Manion said she learned that captured her audience the very second she included facial expressions and hand gestures in her story.

Students were also asked to participate in the storytelling process of “Jack and the Beanstalk.”

Each student was assigned a part to do, and she said this ensured that the students paid  greater attention to the story which also improved the learning process.
