This bi-annual event was witnessed by the entire RHS faculty and student body. Mayor Melchor Mendiola was the inspirational speaker and RHS principal Sharlene Manglona gave the opening remarks. Members of the community were in attendance including Municipal Council members George O. Hocog and Prudencio A. Manglona Jr., CNMI PTSA Advisory Council vice president Edita Taimanao, RHS PTA president Therese Hizon and her officers and Resident Director of Labor Richard Taisacan as well as parents and family members.
Rota JROTC expressed its gratitude to Abel Hocog for filming the ceremony and showing it on Rota’s local television channel.
The new chain of command will be challenged with a new mission at the end of March. It has been aggressively planning, organizing, and coordinating the training sites for the CNMI Multiple School Unit JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge on Rota. Training will include 150 cadets from all five high schools who will participate in various leadership positions and team building activities.
The Buck Battalion also thanked LTC Robert Gay, PSS MSU JROTC Director of Army Instruction for selecting Rota as the training site on March 22-27.
Additionally, the JROTC would like to thank Commissioner Rita Sablan, for supporting this annual event, Mayor Melchor Mendiola for providing site support, and Dr. Rita Inos Junior High School principal Maria S. Quitugua, for the use of the campus as the campsite.
The Buck Battalion is anxiously awaiting the arrival of its cadet counterparts which will invariably result in the development of new skills and interisland collaboration in numerous training events under a field environment.
