Wish him well

Acting Gov. Eloy S. Inos is wishing the governor well and hopes the treatment will not be as complicated as the first one in 2006.

As soon as the national governors  meeting is done, Fitial will  head to California, according to Press Secretary Angel A. Demapan.

Demapan, in an email yesterday, said the governor will meet his doctor in Los Angeles.

He could not tell if Fitial will undergo another operation for his spine problem.

“Until such time that a consultation by his physician is completed, we won’t be able to know more details,” Demapan said.

Over the last few months, Fitial has been experiencing backpain again. He told reporters that his back “hurts really bad” every time he stands up.

Inos told reporters after last Tuesday’s cabinet meeting that in case the governor needs surgery, he hopes the procedure won’t be as intense as the first one.

He also hopes that the recuperation period would be shorter.

“Hopefully everything would be okay and fine so that he can return soon,” Inos said, adding that the governor’s off-island trip could probably be the longest since his last medical leave late in 2006.

Then-Lt. Gov. Timothy Villagomez was acting governor for almost three months when Fitial had a surgery in 2006.
