“Finding the best president for the college remains the board of regents’ chief priority at this time,” said NMC Chairman Juan T. Lizama.
“Although the candidate’s withdrawal presents a temporary setback to the search process, the regents have other viable options and will be discussing these in the next few days,” Lizama said. “We are still very much committed to selecting a president expeditiously and without unnecessary delay.”
The regents did not indicate a specific reason for the withdrawal, citing concerns for the candidate’s privacy.
The Regents earlier announced the three final candidates recommended by the presidential search committee: Dr. Christa Adams, Dr. Jeff Armstrong, and Dr. Sharon Y. Hart.
“The other candidates recommended by the presidential search committee are still under consideration,” Lizama said.
The Association of Community College Trustees is aiding the Board of Regent’s search for the next NMC president.
The agency, a nonprofit educational association, was tapped by the NMC board to assist with the initial stages of the presidential search process as well as with the background searches of the final candidates.
The organization has been credited for assisting numerous other colleges and universities with their search for a CEO/president.
