From the prelude of the game until its epilogue the Ol Aces showed a strong winning reign against the Hoopaholics. The Ol Aces led the game by 16 points, 28-12, during the first quarter of the game followed by 19 points, 20 points, and finally the upset of the game slicing through the board with 11 points, the Ol Aces handed the upset of the game to the Hoopaholics.
Trevor Ogumoro arrived at the Ada gym ready to play ball. Ogumoro garnered 11 points alone in the first ten minutes of the game mightily impressing the crowd and his teammates. Jose Tumaquip made sure that his presence was highly accounted for after nailing two jump shots and ending the last minute and a half with a three pointer shot to deposit his 7 points to the board.
By the end of the quarter the Hoopaholics were trailing behind with a weak 12 point presentation against the Ol Aces’ 28 point presentation.
However, the Hoopaholics did not lose fire nor hope during the second quarter. But the Ol Aces meant business when they entered the court and business is what they gave the Hoopaholics.
Nearly tripling their score, Junior Rengul pushed forward to gain 6 more points while his teammates Ben Lisua and Jose Tumaquip grabbed four points a piece in the last two minutes before half time. By the end of the second quarter and half time intermission the scores were up 49-30.
It was no different story during the last half of the game. The Ol Aces pushed forward stronger and more aggressive against the Hoopaholics. Together the Ol Aces nailed good feet work and ground work and under the wings of Coach Elias Rangamar, the Ol Aces snatched 21 more points before the siren declared the end of the third quarter.
Both teams anticipated the last quarter of the game. With the Hoopaholics’ backs against the ropes the Ol Aces did not let their guard down even for a second. The Ol Aces continued to pound the Hoopaholics with jump shots and the inevitable loss was coming for the Hoopaholics but they refused to go down without a fight.
Star player Dave Sablan nailed 14 points all by himself in his herculean effort to fix the damaged made in the earlier quarters. But it was all over as the Ol Aces’ Peter Camacho and Trevor Ogumoro were repeatedly fouled and were repeatedly granted two charity shots per penalty which they sunk in repeatedly.
The Ol Aces moved on to win the game, 91-80, currently placing them snuggly in fifth place in the entire Docomo/UBA Men’s Basketball League.
