SRC hosts 1st race of the year

The S.R.C.R Radio Control club hosted a race last Saturday night, January 29th, 2011, at their As Lito course with three divisions adding one more to their monthly two, which are the 1/8 Nitro Truggy Class, Stock Electric Short Course Class in the Novice division, and Stock Electric Short Course Class in the Expert Division. Most competitors would like to label this sport an “R/C hobby” or “Off Road hobby”.

The first division is the 1/8 Nitro Truggy Class. Jude Dixon racing with a KYOSHO STRR annexed second place and the top qualifier seeding, while Rodney Catalla conquered first place racing with a TEAM ASSOCIATED RC8T, and third place went out to Jojo Saracho racing with a MUGEN MBX6T.

In the Stock Electric Short Course Class in the Novice division, Krut Diaz pcoekts the Top Qualifier seat along with first place racing with a TRAXXAS SLASH. Second place went to a racing enthusiast by the name of Emir Abuan, and last but certainly not the least, Butter Dickson fends off third.

In the Expert Division, top gunner Paul Salalila bagged the Top Qualifier seat and second place to add another pair of certificates to his already growing collection of prestigious awards. First place was collared off by Jude Dickinson, and last but not least event coordinator Rodney Catalla snatches third place.

The S.R.C.R Club would like to open their club to anyone interested in Race controlled cars and competitions, and that there is an active club here on island.

There are races held once a month and practices at the As Lito course before competition day. The league wishes to expand its race categories into a wider array of divisions so everyone may compete in them; the young and the old.

The next race shall be posted up real soon so the committee members and officials would like for you to stay tuned.

“The first race of the year was held last Saturday night. [Saturday] turned out nice [because] a lot of racers participated so it [was really] good for the club.” coordinator Rodney Catalla explains in an email sent to the Marianas Variety.
