Man beats girlfriend with PVC pipe over unwashed pot

Investigation showed the victim was sitting and reading the Bible at a table under a pala-pala at their residence in Kagman when Christopher Dela Cruz approached her.

Dela Cruz told his girlfriend to wash the pot she used the night before and when she ignored him, he started throwing her clothes and other personal items out of their room.

When she approached him, he walked up to her and slapped her left face, pulled her shirt and began punching her on the back of her head, according to Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan.

Pangelinan said Dela Cruz pulled the victim’s hair and attacked her with a plastic PVC pipe.

“Dela Cruz [took a] plastic PVC pipe off from the window curtain [and] used it to choke [the victim] while she lay on her back on the bed. Acting on self-defense, [the victim] grabbed Dela Cruz by the groin area but he wouldn’t let go. Instead, he began punching her head, until [the victim] fell to the floor,” the detective said.

The victim’s ordeal ceased when the suspect’s mother stopped him.

But Dela Cruz wounded the victim again on the back when he threw the PVC pipe at her while she was walking away.

Dela Cruz was charged with assault and battery, disturbing the peace and assault with a dangerous weapon.

His bail was set at $6,250.
