Yesterday, a palm reader and healer announced his own relief effort.
Ambrose Pushparaj, originally from India and now a U.S. citizen, said all donations he will collect from his customers will be sent to Japan.
Known on island as “Elvis,” he said his desire to help the people of Japan comes from his heart.
His wife, Cynthia Kogure, is part Japanese.
Kogure said his grandfather is a full-blooded Japanese. “I have some relatives in Japan but I don’t know them now,” she said.
“I support my husband’s fundraiser,” she added.
Joe Limes, a former vice principal of Garapan Elementary School, said Elvis worked at GES as tradesman.
Limes will help Elvis in his fundraising efforts.
All donations starting today until March 31 will be turned over to the American Red Cross.
Elvis said he has customers from Rota, Tinian, Saipan, Guam and even from the mainland U.S.
“I’m surprised that many people knew him at the hospital,” Limes said when he accompanied Elvis at the Commonwealth Health Center.
Limes said Elvis has been healing lots of people who have health problems.
Elvis showed to Variety a list of the names of his over a thousand customers.
He said he performs his “one-touch healing” based on an ancient practice her mother taught him.
Elvis said he can heal headaches, back pains, heart ailments, stomach pain, and those having problems with their menstrual cycles.
For palm reading and healing services, Elvis can be reached at 288-0634.
He resides on Buenas Tardis St., in Dandan, a block before the Mom and Pops Convenient Store.
