Another burglary, theft incident at tourist site

The seventh burglary and theft incident at tourist sites for the first quarter of the year happened on Valentine’s Day but police released the information about it yesterday.

According to Crime Stoppers, at about 5:20 p.m. on the day of the incident, the victim parked her car, a white 1994 Toyota Corolla, at the Last Command Post before  jogging in the area.

About an hour and a half later, the victim returned and drove her car to a restaurant in Garapan.

“Upon arrival, she opened her trunk to discover her bag and personal items missing,” Crime Stoppers coordinator PO2 Jason Tarkong said.

Police said the victim checked her car and realized the passenger door was unlocked, and the rear passenger window broken.

“The victim realized her car was burglarized while it was parked at the Last Command Post,” Tarkong said.

The items stolen included a laptop worth $800, two cellular phones, a sunglass, an iPod, some clothes and a wallet containing identification cards and credit cards, police said.

Tarkong said the Department of Public Safety and Crime Stoppers are seeking help from members of the public who may have information about this incident. They are urged to call 234-7272.

The six other reported theft incidents occurred at Suicide Cliff, Ladder Beach, Paupau Beach, Tank Beach and Forbidden Island.
