Wiseman reschedules sentencing of Kagman kidnap-rape defendant

Assistant Attorney General Brian Gallagher, who is prosecuting the case, and Santos’ counsel, Joseph James Norita Camacho, met in Wiseman’s chambers yesterday and both concurred to reschedule the sentencing, which was originally scheduled for yesterday.

Variety was told that the AGO recommended 30 years imprisonment, all suspended except for the first 18 years. Santos will serve the full 15 years without the possibility of parole.

His cooperation last August led to the arrest of the other defendants Last December, however, Wiseman dismissed without prejudice the charges against Alfred P. Hocog, 18; Ivan Jones Castro, 33; and Joseph Cabrera Camacho Jr., 31.

The AGO said it moved for the dismissal of the charges “due to newly discovered evidence that requires further evaluation” by the government.
