Ex-convict to be placed on three months house arrest

Judge Michael Wise Mosman of the U.S. District Court for Oregon granted the petition of the Federal Probation Office to modify Francisco Nakatsukasa Basa’s  conditions of supervision.

The Federal Probation Office recommended that Basa be ordered to serve three months of home confinement under the U.S. Probation Location Monitoring Program.

Basa started serving his 30-day sentence at the Department of Corrections facility on Jan. 2, 2011.

He earlier pleaded guilty to assault and battery.

Basa was arrested on May 23, 2010.

The Superior Court sentenced him to six months imprisonment, all suspended except for 30 days, with credit for two days he had already served.

On Oct. 28, 2010, Basa admitted verbally and in writing that he smoked “ice,” the Federal Probation Office said.

Basa attends all required counseling and random drug testing, reports to Federal Probation Office weekly, and is actively performing his community service, the petition said.

Basa has registered with the Northern Marianas Trade Institute and will begin vocational training after he completes his term of incarceration, the petition added.

On June 2, 2006, then-Chief Judge Alex R. Munson sentenced Basa to 54 months imprisonment followed by five years supervised release for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
