A special evening

The family and friends of former Lt. Gov. Diego T. Benavente held a “special evening dedicated to friendship, laughter and good company” at the Hibiscus Hall of the Crowne Plaza Resort on Saturday, Oct, 4, 2025. Among those present at the event were Gov. David M. Apatang, Lt. Gov. Dennis Mendiola, former Govs. Ralph DLG Torres, Juan N. Babauta and Benigno R. Fitial as well as Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero, Guam Sen. Tina Muna Barnes, and former Palau President Tommy Remengesau. Joining them were CNMI judiciary officials led by Chief Justice Alex Castro, CNMI lawmakers, former U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan, the representatives of U.S. Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds, who was in the nation’s capital, Northern Marianas College President Galvin S. Deleon Guerrero, NMC Vice President for Administration and Advancement Frankie Eliptico, Saipan Mayor RB Camacho, former CNMI officials, business community leaders and other well-wishers from the island community. In his remarks, Benavente — who has been diagnosed with acute leukemia — expressed hope that everyone in the Commonwealth will work together and support one another through “these challenging times.”
