MOUNT Carmel School collected its first win in the boys high school division of the PSS-NIMSA Interscholastic Fastpitch Softball League SY25-26 on Saturday after easing past Saipan International School, 20-10, at the Dandan ball field.
SIS made its presence known early, capitalizing on every hit and walk to load the bases. But MCS escaped unscathed, recording three quick outs and stranding all runners.
On defense, SIS struggled with control, walking nearly every batter and allowing MCS to score three runs via walks to take a 3-0 lead.
In the top of the second, MCS returned the favor, struggling to find the strike zone. SIS took advantage with a handful of walks and a couple of hits to even the score, 3-3.
MCS answered with a huge rally in the bottom half, plating 10 runs behind key contributions from Jaze San Nicolas, Austin Hoepner, and Elijah Dela Cruz for a commanding 13-3 lead after two innings.
SIS showed resilience in the third, scoring five runs off more walks to trim the deficit. But their pitching woes continued, issuing several more walks that turned into five additional MCS runs, stretching the gap to 20-8.
SIS had one last chance to rally, with two runners circling the bases to add a pair of runs. But MCS halted the momentum and secured the final three outs to seal the 20-10 victory.
In the second game of the day, Saipan Southern High School JV outlasted Kagman High School JV, 18-17.
