Fiscal fitness: Improving financial health for women in business

(CNMI SBDC) — The CNMI Small Business Development Center Network at Northern Marianas College is pleased to announce the return of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Project training series “Fiscal Fitness: Improving Financial Health for Women in Business.” The three-day series will take place from Oct. 20–22 at the NMC Innovation Incubator Office, located at the Beach Road Plaza commercial building in Garapan, Saipan. This year’s line-up of speakers will feature key industry leaders and experts in the field of taxation and accounting.

Day 3: “Compliance Endurance: Navigating Federal Policies and Workforce Regulations” will feature Tina Azarvand, Esq., LL.M., managing partner at Azarvand Tax Law. Originally from Salt Lake City and now proudly serving the Saipan community, Tina is the founder of Azarvand Tax Law — a firm dedicated to helping small businesses navigate complex tax and business matters with clarity and confidence. With extensive experience as both a tax attorney and tax manager, Tina brings a unique blend of legal and accounting expertise to her clients. Her firm is recognized for its commitment to accessibility and client-centered service, offering multilingual support in English, Chinese, Tagalog, Spanish, and French.

Tina’s professional excellence has earned her national recognition, including four consecutive Super Lawyers: Rising Stars honors and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch awards. Since relocating to Saipan, she has become an active partner in empowering local entrepreneurs through education, personalized tax strategies, and community collaboration.

During this training seminar, WEP Cohort 5 participants can expect to gain:

• Insight into key impacts from the “Big Beautiful Bill” and how it may affect local businesses

• A clearer understanding of how proposed federal tax changes could impact the CNMI business community

• Updates on the Corporate Transparency Act and what it means for business owners

•  A comparison of LLCs and S Corporations, including key differences, benefits, and tax considerations

“Tina is a much-needed addition to the list of CNMI SBDC Network experts who have graciously extended their professional experience to our small businesses seeking guidance to best prepare for tax considerations and obtaining the education needed for filing implications necessary to maintaining compliance with government regulatory requirements. We’re appreciative of her commitment to the CNMI business community and of her recent advocacy efforts in encouraging investors to make economic investments in the Commonwealth. We look forward to the potential of working with her in lending her time for future training events with the SBDC,” shared Nadine Deleon Guerrero Kintol, director of the CNMI SBDC Network.

Certificates will be presented to Cohort 5 participants at the conclusion of the training event on the 22nd. Registration has reached max capacity; however, those interested in attending may join the waitlist by contacting the SBDC office.
