(COTA) — The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority, under the Office of the Governor and Lt. Governor, is pleased to announce that beginning November 1, 2025, and throughout the entire month, all veterans, active-duty and Reserve members of the U.S. armed forces, including the National Guard and Coast Guard, and their immediate family members may ride COTA’s Fixed Route and Demand Response Shared Ride services at no cost in recognition of their service and sacrifice. Eligible riders should present a valid military or veteran identification card when boarding.
Gov. David M. Apatang shared that this initiative reflects the Commonwealth’s deep gratitude.
“Our veterans and service members have given so much to protect our way of life,” said Governor Apatang. “This is one small way we can show our appreciation and stand behind them for all they have done.”
Lt. Gov. Dennis James C. Mendiola emphasized honoring both service members and their families. “We owe our veterans and active-duty personnel a tremendous debt,” said Lt. Governor Mendiola. “Their courage and commitment inspire our islands, and we proudly honor them and their families.”
Special Assistant for Public Transportation Alfreda Camacho Maratita also highlighted the importance of the initiative. “It is an honor to support this initiative,” she said. “We are grateful for the sacrifices of our veterans, service members, and their families and want them to feel valued by our community.”
COTA encourages all eligible individuals to take advantage of these complimentary rides throughout November as part of the Commonwealth’s Veterans Month observance.
