Ol’ Aces’ pitcher Hunter Dela Cruz hits the ball for a single.
AFTER a three-run loss to the Comets on Saturday, the Braves defeated the Ol’ Aces on Sunday in the senior division of Saipan Little League Baseball at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
“Starting pitcher Herman Iguel, who had nine strikeouts in the game, allowed no runs in the first inning.
Shortstop Anthon Tudela later replaced him on the mound and sealed the Braves’ victory by striking out PJ Tomokane of the Ol’ Aces.
Trailing by one run in the third inning, the Braves scored six in the fourth to secure an 8-4 victory.
Iguel allowed four base hits and three walks. He also delivered two hits at the plate, including a two-run triple. Right fielder Justin Garde, first baseman Ayden Magofna, and second baseman Ben Sablan each added a single.
Pitcher Hunter Dela Cruz, catcher Jesse Santos, shortstop Jequinn Lizama, second baseman Ezekiel Babauta, and first baseman Jesus Santos each had one hit for the Ol’ Aces.
On Saturday, the Comets capitalized on a strong start, scoring seven runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run single from first baseman Matheo Tomokane. The Comets went on to secure an 11-8 victory over the Braves. Starting pitcher Joe Lizama struck out four and allowed five hits over his outing.
For the Braves, catcher Max Taitano tripled, while Herman Iguel contributed with an RBI double. Starting pitcher Peter Camacho also recorded an RBI single in the loss.
