IN a historic move to give back to the people of the Northern Mariana Islands, Eucon International University has announced a transformative scholarship program totaling $1.35 million in full-tuition awards for indigenous Chamorro and Carolinian students. This initiative reflects the university’s deep commitment to supporting the future leaders of the CNMI and strengthening local communities for generations to come.
Under the endorsement and support of Sen. Corina Magofna, Eucon will offer 50 full scholarships for undergraduate studies beginning Fall 2025, and 10 full scholarships for MBA candidates starting June 9, 2025.
“This is more than a scholarship — it’s an investment in our people,” said Dr. Christian Wei, president of Eucon International University. “We believe the brightest future for the CNMI lies in empowering our own youth to stay, grow, and lead within their communities.”
Unlike traditional scholarship programs that often encourage students to study abroad and not return, the Eucon Indigenous Scholarship is designed to help students stay in the CNMI, gain high-quality Christian higher education, and become future professionals, business leaders, and government servants right here at home. Upon graduation, Eucon will offer career pathways, job placement assistance, and support through a newly established Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development Department, helping graduates transition directly into local careers or start their own ventures.
The scholarship criteria include:
• Indigenous heritage (Chamorro or Carolinian preferred)
• Strong moral character and leadership potential
• Excellent academic standing (GPA and transcripts required)
• Commitment to community involvement and future service in CNMI
“These scholarships are designed to raise a new generation of leaders from among us—leaders who not only succeed academically, but who serve with integrity, character, and vision,” said Senator Magofna.
Interested applicants are encouraged to apply early. The undergraduate program starts on September 2, 2025, and the MBA program begins on June 9, 2025. Students, families, and community leaders who wish to recommend a deserving candidate may contact Senator Magofna’s office or Eucon International University directly.
