TEAM Whassup added another win in the masters division of the 2025 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League by pulling a late-game comeback to upset the Eagle Rays, 11-10, at the Dandan Softball Field on Sunday.

Both teams came out swinging in the first inning.

The Eagle Rays hit singles turned RBIs thanks to Manny and Eric Cabrera along with Mike Techur to establish control.

Two more Eagle Rays advanced to first and second base before Whassup recorded three consecutive outs, including two strikeouts by pitcher Ken Kaipat.

Whassup then scored one run in the bottom half to trail, 3-1 after one complete inning.

In the second inning, the Eagle Rays added three more runs, led by Manny Cabrera’s RBI double. Whassup responded with a series of RBI singles, totaling four runs in the bottom half to close the gap, 6-5.

In the next two innings, both teams showcased their defensive capabilities. In the bottom of the fourth, Whassup’s Joe Lizama and Rich Quitugua each earned an RBI single to snatch the upper hand, 7-6.

The Eagle Rays regained control with two runs in the fifth inning, and Jason Reyes followed up with a two-run homer in the top of the sixth to take a 10-7 lead.

Things looked bleak for Whassup as they opened the bottom half with two straight outs. However, they found their second wind when Joe Lizama and Mario Aguon hit a double and a single, both turning into RBIs, followed by a two-run homer from Quitugua to regain a narrow 11-10 lead.

The Eagle Rays had one last chance to steal the win, but they came up empty-handed, reaching only as far as second base before Whassup recorded three outs in the top of the seventh inning to secure the victory.
