This year’s Liberation Day logo
THE 2025 Liberation Day Committee is proud to announce Isabella Teresa Satur Yiftheg as the winner of the theme and logo competition for the 79th CNMI Liberation Day Celebration. Her design, titled “Weaving Heritage and Embracing Peace,” was selected from more than 20 submissions for its deep reflection of the Commonwealth’s history, cultural heritage, commitment to sustainability, and community spirit.
Yiftheg’s logo brings together meaningful elements that symbolize the identity and values of the CNMI. The Marianas Fruit Dove carrying an olive branch represents peace, unity, and the importance of protecting native species. The latte stone, mwaar, and ebwuut highlight the distinct traditions of the Chamorro and Refaluwasch people, while the American flag honors the CNMI’s historical connection to the United States. A brightly colored star symbolizes unity, and within the star, a fisherman casting a hook illustrates the islands’ enduring relationship with the ocean and the significance of sustainability. Each element plays a part in weaving together the rich cultures that make up the Commonwealth.
Explaining the inspiration behind her theme and design, Yiftheg shared, “My logo represents the CNMI’s history, heritage, sustainability, and vibrant spirit while aligning with the ‘Weaving Heritage and Embracing Peace’ theme of the Liberation Festival in many different ways.”
Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho praised Yiftheg’s work and the importance of community engagement in celebrating the Commonwealth’s history. “The 79th Liberation Day theme and logo capture the heart of who we are as a people — resilient, proud, and deeply connected to our heritage. Ms. Yiftheg’s design is a powerful reminder of our shared history and our commitment to unity and sustainability. I commend her creativity and all those who participated in this meaningful competition,” Mayor RB Camacho said.
This year, the Liberation Day Committee invited the entire community to participate in the theme and logo competition, giving residents a chance to contribute to this historic celebration. With many talented individuals submitting creative and meaningful entries, the selection process was both exciting and challenging.
Chairwoman of the 2025 Liberation Day Committee, Frances Santos, expressed her admiration for the submissions received, stating, “Selecting just one logo and theme was a challenge because of the overwhelming talent, creativity, and passion shown by our community members. Every submission reflected the pride and deep connection our people have with the history and culture of the CNMI. We are grateful to everyone who took the time to contribute their vision and ideas. Their participation has helped shape this year’s celebration into something truly special.”
As the winning entry, Yiftheg’s theme and logo will be featured on all official materials for the 79th CNMI Liberation Festivities. She will also receive public recognition and a cash prize of $300. The Liberation Day Committee extends its sincere gratitude to every individual who participated in this year’s competition. Each submission showcased the incredible artistic and cultural talents within the CNMI, and the committee deeply appreciates the time, effort, and thoughtfulness that went into each design.
