SAAM launches with proclamation signing ceremony on April 2

(NMCADSV) — The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence and its community partners invite the public to the Sexual Assault Awareness Month or SAAM proclamation signing ceremony on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Royal Taga Ballroom, Saipan World Resort in Susupe. This ceremony will officially declare    April    as    Sexual    Assault    Awareness    Month    across    the    CNMI.

Led by NMCADSV staff and the 2025 SAAM Planning Committee, the ceremony will feature a keynote speaker. For those unable to attend in person, the program will be livestreamed in partnership with Marianas Press and can be viewed on NMCADSV’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/EndViolenceNMI/.

Get ready for a day of fun, family, and empowerment at the S.A.F.E. Jamboree! Happening on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Capital Hill Softball Field, this exciting event, in collaboration with DCCA-Division of Youth Services’ Family Fun Day, offers something for everyone. From live entertainment to engaging kids’ games, informational booths, and delicious food vendors, it’s a day dedicated to raising awareness and supporting a meaningful cause.

On Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 9 a.m., NMCADSV will observe a Day of Prayer at San Roque Parish. Faith-based organizations have also been invited to share messages of advocacy against sexual violence during their services or Eucharistic celebrations.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 30, 2025, and join the movement for National Denim Day with the Wave, Walk, and Roll Against Sexual Violence. The event will begin at the Kagman Community Center, with registration opening at 4:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear denim, bring posters, and take part in a roadside waving. The event will conclude with a one-mile walk through the village, promoting solidarity and awareness in the effort to end sexual violence.

Throughout April, the Coalition will also host a series of radio shows on KKMP 92.1 FM every Wednesday at 8 a.m. These discussions, featuring NMCADSV staff, committee members, and local partner agencies, will cover key topics related to sexual assault awareness and education, providing the community with valuable insights and resources.

In addition to these broadcasts, NMCADSV is excited to announce a series of in-person SAAM events across the neighboring islands of Tinian and Rota. On Tinian, a Roadside Painting and Walk will take place on Friday, April 11, followed by a Softball Tournament from April 12–13, 2025. Meanwhile, on Rota, in partnership with DCCA-Division of Youth Services, events will include the SAAM/CAN Handwave Outreach on April 4, the Project PROM Workshop on April 25, and the “Safe@Home” Family Fun Day & Softball Tournament on April 26, 2025. More details on times and locations will be announced soon.

To further engage the community, NMCADSV is launching the #30DaysOfSAAM Spirit Week Challenge from Monday, April 21 to Friday, April 25, 2025. Participants are encouraged to create and share social media posts based on daily prompts featured on the 2025 #30DaysOfSAAM Social Media Calendar, available on the Coalition’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Prizes will be awarded to those with the highest levels of engagement.
