A 67-year-old woman (not 77-year-old as earlier reported) died Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle near the Shell gas station in Puerto Rico.

Emergency personnel from the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the area following the incident.

The woman was crossing Pale Arnold Road when she was struck by a vehicle, authorities said. Traffic in the area was temporarily diverted as police processed the scene.

Department of Public Safety public information officer Fred Sato said, “It’s confirmed: a pedestrian fatality — a [67]-year-old woman.”

“This is an ongoing investigation, and more information will be provided once it becomes available,” he added.

Details about the driver, the vehicle’s make, speed, or any potential contributing factors have not been confirmed by authorities.

This is a developing story.
