(Press Release) — The Pacific Games Organizing Committee-Tahiti 2027 invites the public to take part in the first edition of the Pacific Digital Relay, a fully online event designed to connect participating countries of the Pacific Games.
Organized in celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the event will take place on Monday, April 6, 2026, with a scheduled launch at 9 a.m. (UTC-10) on YouTube.
The Pacific Digital Relay takes the form of a digital relay: each participating country will produce a 30-minute video showcasing what defines its identity.
Through this initiative, audiences will be able to discover:
– Athletes and sporting practices
– Iconic locations
– Cultural elements, traditions, and heritage unique to each country
These videos will follow one another like a relay, featuring a symbolic handover (“Pacific Relay”), creating a shared regional moment.
“The Pacific Digital Relay is an invitation to get to know one another ahead of Tahiti 2027: to discover participating countries, their iconic places, their culture, and their sporting energy, through a format that is accessible to all, online,” said Noëlline Parker, president of the Pacific Games Organizing Committee-Tahiti 2027.

The event is also designed to be interactive, allowing audiences to engage live through questions and comments.
About the Pacific Games
The Pacific Games are the region’s largest sporting event. Created in 1963 and held every four years, they bring together 24 Oceanian nations around sport and culture.
In 2027, French Polynesia will host the 18th edition of the Pacific Games from July 24 to August 7 on the islands of Tahiti, Moorea, and Raiatea.
The event will bring together nearly 4,500 athletes competing in 356 events across 24 sports, and three parasports. Selected events will serve as qualification competitions for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games as well as for world championships.
Beyond the competition, Tahiti 2027 aims to be a grand celebration of Oceanian cultures and an ambitious regional project, promoting a lasting legacy for the territory, values of inclusion, eco-responsibility, and the promotion of local expertise.
A true symbol of unity, the Pacific Games-Tahiti 2027 will offer an exceptional showcase for French Polynesia across the region and internationally.
