Liberation Day Committee seeks vendors for 80th anniversary celebration

(Press Release) — The 2026 Liberation Day Committee is pleased to announce that applications are now open for vendors and concessionaires interested in participating in the 80th Liberation Day Celebration.

This historic milestone is expected to attract thousands of residents and visitors and will feature cultural performances, local entertainment, family activities, community exhibits, and a wide variety of food and retail vendors.

The 80th Liberation Day festivities will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4, 2026, at the Civic Center in Susupe. The festival grounds will be open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday.

This year’s celebration commemorates the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Northern Mariana Islands and honors the resilience, sacrifices, and enduring spirit of the community. Guided by the theme, “Together We Rise, Together We Stand,” the celebration serves as a reminder that strength comes from unity, perseverance, and a shared commitment to building a brighter future for generations to come.

As the CNMI continues to recover and grow, the 80th Liberation Day Celebration provides an opportunity for families, businesses, organizations, and visitors to come together in a spirit of gratitude, remembrance, and community pride. The anniversary also recognizes the historic reopening of Camp Chalan Kanoa on July 4, 1946, when Chamorro and Carolinian families were permitted to return home and begin rebuilding their lives after the hardships of war.

“The story of Liberation Day is one of resilience, hope, and renewal,” said Frances Santos, chairwoman of the 2026 Liberation Day Committee. “Eighty years later, we continue to draw inspiration from the courage and determination of those who came before us. Our theme, ‘Together We Rise, Together We Stand,’ reflects the unity and strength that have carried our islands through challenges and continue to guide us forward as one community.”
