THERE is no fuel shortage on Tinian. At around 11:15 a.m., 3,000 gallons of gasoline were delivered to Tinian Fuel Services.
Tinian Fuel Services explained on Tuesday that a drastic increase in fuel consumption on the island due to a rise in disaster recovery-related activities has expedited the flow of supplies from the Mobil Oil Marianas depot to the service station.
This prompted the company to limit fuel deliveries from the depot to the service station to 6,000 gallons per week until an oil tanker arrives next month to resupply Mobil Oil Marianas’ bulk tank.
The company put up a temporary sign that reads, “No gas waiting for delivery,” on Monday after supplies at the station ran out faster than usual.
Due to higher fuel demand on the island, Tinian Fuel Services is encouraging the public to conserve fuel and avoid unnecessary driving.
As of Tuesday, the price of regular gasoline on Tinian was $8.439 per gallon, while diesel was priced at $9.489 per gallon.
