THE Marianas Youth Billiards Association Open 8-Ball League delivered thrilling Saturday action, with Nolan Cultura and JM Ellama showcasing clutch performances and securing decisive wins at Kanto 10 and Tom Yum Restaurant.

Nolan Cultura put on an absolute clinic against Antonio Timas. From the opening break, Cultura established complete control of the table, leaving little room for error.

Cultura delivered a dominant performance, sweeping all five frames to secure a 5-0 victory. Timas fought to find his rhythm but was unable to break through Cultura’s lockdown safety play and clinical shot-making.

With the dominant shutout, Cultura firmly established himself as a force to be reckoned with this season.

Meanwhile, action at Tom Yum told a completely different story — a back-and-forth battle of attrition between JM Ellama and Matt Balignasay.

Ellama drew first blood by taking the opening game, but Balignasay immediately fired back in the second frame to level the match at 1-1. The chess match continued through the third and fourth frames, where Ellama’s precision under pressure allowed him to pull ahead. Though Balignasay mounted a late rally to claim the fifth frame, Ellama walked away with a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

Both players demonstrated exceptional resolve, but Ellama’s ability to seize key moments ultimately made the difference.

The Marianas Youth Billiards Association Open 8-Ball League continues to foster top-tier junior talent across the islands, with matches held weekly at 3 p.m.
