KAYLEE Sablan took home three of five awards at the 2025 Sustainable Fashion Show organized by 2024 Miss Earth Northern Marianas Heavenly Pangelinan.
Held at Grandvrio Resort’s Fiesta Hall on Saturday, Feb. 8, the fashion show was a fundraising event to support future recycling projects that Pangelinan wants to implement on Rota and Tinian.
Participants were tasked with creating outfits made from recycled fabrics or thrift shops.
Contestants modeled outfits in the following categories: natural jeweler, best native wear, best thrift, most fashionable, fitness and form.
Kaylee Sablan was the top contestant in the natural jeweler and fitness and form categories, and was voted most fashionable.
Luisa Sablan was the best native wear awardee while Donna Santiago won the best thrift award.
The other participants were Reavenjei Cruz, Asia Hilario, Nica Sablan, Deltona Takai, Kylie Sablan, Mary-Frances Tenorio, Remedio Cruz, and Chariane Dabney.
Pangelinan said she is already coordinating with the mayors’ offices on Rota and Tinian to begin recycling workshops on each island.
Her plans have not been finalized, but she wants to begin a project in “the next couple of months.”
As for the 2025 Miss Northern Marianas Earth pageant, Pangelinan said six young women have expressed interest in participating. The minimum number of participants required to host an in-person pageant is nine, and once that number is met, local organizers will host the pageant, preferably in July, Pangelinan said.
To qualify, a candidate must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, over 5’4”, a natural-born female, have never given birth, and have never married. She should also have knowledge of her country or jurisdiction’s culture and environment.
