Rocball’s new season features 6 teams

ROCBALL, “Saipan’s Own Sport,” began its 43rd annual season of games at Marianas High School.

The six teams that have registered for this year’s games are the Local locos, KMA, CGU 32, Campeones, Divas, and Manamkos. The preseason practice games began on Jan. 22 and each team has had two weeks to finalize their rosters and two practice games to prepare for this year’s games.

Rocball is the overhead team net sport that created rally point scoring, unrestricted hitting and kicking, and a multiple point scoring system with goals located behind each court.

With the completion of the two weeks of practice games, the MHS Rocball players highlighted their competitive skills by scoring a total of 49 two point serves, 4 two-point backcourt plays, and 7 three-point goals, and a 1 one-point jam when a served ball is spiked down at the net.

The team that scored the most two-point serves was the local Locos with 17 aces and the team that scored the most three-point plays was the Divas with 4 three-point goals. The Heavy Hitter of the preseason games was Jasper Hall of the Divas. Jasper scored 3 aces, 3 goals, and jammed down a served ball for another point.

As of January 2025, Roccball is the registered trademark of Rocball, the copyrighted game registered with the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

Roccball trademarked and Rocball copyrighted are one in the same and may be the only sport in the the CNMI and Micronesia that has been successfully trademarked and copyrighted.
