THE Tanapag Middle School Tatagas seized the spotlight in the girls middle school division opening games of the PSS-NMISA Interscholastic Fastpitch Softball League SY24-25 on Saturday by beating the Dandan Middle School Tottots with a late-game rally, 14-11, at the Dandan Middle School softball field on Saturday.
The game had a lopsided start in favor of DMS as they quickly retired the top half of the opening inning, sending TMS’ first three batters back to the dugout.
In the bottom half, TMS’ pitcher struggled to find the strike zone, giving up four runs on walks, while DMS’ Anissa added an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0.
TMS remained scoreless for the next two innings, while DMS widened the gap in the bottom of the third with six more runs, highlighted by Mailee’s home run, to secure a commanding 11-0 lead.
But in the top of the fourth inning, the momentum shifted as TMS found confidence at the plate. With a mix of base hits and walks, they rallied to score seven runs, narrowing the gap to 11-7.
Riding that momentum into the top of the fifth, TMS erupted for another seven runs, seizing the lead and securing a thrilling 14-11 victory.
Hopwood vs Chacha
Also earning a win in their debut game were the Hopwood Middle School Hilitais, who outlasted the Chacha Ocean View Middle School Lancherus, 13-10.
