IT’S still anyone’s ball game in the 2024 SBL Masters League as the team standings continue to shift, with the Brewers earning their fourth win after fending off the Dodgers 17-12 at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Wednesday
The Brewers opened the top of the first inning with the bases loaded by their first four batters. Although the Dodgers picked off a runner at third, the Brewers’ Frank Roberts seized a scoring opportunity, bringing in John Taitano and Hector Efraim with a two-RBI single.
But the Dodgers trailed for only a brief moment. The Brewers seemed to have the upper hand, having recorded two outs after the Dodgers’ third batter, but Joe Celis connected for a double, bringing in Derek Aguon and John Acosta for two RBIs and recording the game’s first deadlock at 2-2.
The Brewers regained control with four runs added in the next inning, but the Dodgers scored five runs to seize the lead for the first time, 7-6.
The Brewers regained control, scoring three runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth, while the Dodgers fell short with just four runs, trailing 12-11.
In the top of the sixth, Dodgers pitcher Darwin Masaharu struggled to find the strike zone, walking the Brewers’ first three batters. With the bases loaded, the Brewers’ JJ Cabrera, John Taitano, Kaipat, and Hector Efraim each earned an RBI single to widen their lead.
The Dodgers managed just one run in the bottom half, with the Brewers still ahead, 17-12. In the final inning, neither team scored, allowing the Brewers to secure the win over the Dodgers.
