THE Department of Public Works is moving forward with a roundabout construction project at the three-way intersection of Beach Road and Micro Beach Road in Garapan near American Memorial Park.
The $1.2 million project will be funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration.
In an interview on Friday, DPW Secretary Ray N. Yumul said he has requested the Division of Procurement Services to approve the expenditure of funds for advertising an invitation to bid.
He said the road construction project aims to improve the safety and mobility of motorists driving in the area. It includes upgrading the roadway pavement structure, demolition, excavation, backfilling the subbase and base course, installation of concrete medians, curbs and gutters, aprons, bricks, landscaping, concrete pavement, anti-skid pavement, traffic signage, and pavement markings.
“We are excited about this project as it will further improve the looks of the Garapan tourist district,” Yumul said.
