DPS to conduct sobriety checkpoints on Dec. 30-31

(DPS) — The CNMI Department of Public Safety will conduct the following DUI sobriety checkpoints:

Monday, Dec. 30

The first setup will be on Chalan Pale Arnold, Puerto Rico to Garapan, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The second setup will be along Chalan Monsignor Guererro, Chalan Kiya to Dandan, from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 31

The first setup will be on Beach Road, Susupe to Chalan Laulau, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The second setup will be along Beach Road, Chalan Laulau to Garapan, from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Th third setup will be on Micro Beach Road, Garapan, from 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m., Jan. 1, 2025.

In addition to these checkpoints, DPS Highway Patrol Division will conduct high visibility enforcement, saturation patrols, and speed enforcement at random locations around the island.

The purpose of these scheduled checkpoints is to deter, detect, and apprehend impaired drivers and promote public safety while increasing awareness of the dangers of driving while under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication while on the islands’ roadways.

DPS would also like to remind the public to have a safe and enjoyable Holidays.
