THE Bayani Association will host the “Gandang Pinay” beauty pageant for a cause on March 1, Saturday, at the Saipan World Resort. Tickets are being sold at $25 for VIP and $15 for general admission.
In preparation for the pageant, the 10 candidates went through a boot camp training on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025. Held in the NMSA conference room of the Ada gym, the event was filled with enriching activities that helped prepare them for their role in this meaningful cause.
The candidates had hands-on tutorials during the make-up and hairstyling session conducted by Eydie Uy from Makeover Salon, Shine Vizcarra of Gene’s Beauty Shop, Venus Grino of Velleza, and Patrick Kapauan of Jigz Barber Shop & Beauty Salon.
Training modules were conducted by well-known personalities and beauty queens on the island.
The Personality Development module was conducted by Miss Earth Water Northern Marianas 2020 Zoe Stephanson, who is also a family nurse practitioner.
The Public Speaking & Interview Skills module was presented by the co-founder and vice president of the Miss Earth Northern Marianas beauty pageant, Rosalyn Ajoste.
Miss Marianas 2021 and Sexual Assault Response Team Manager Savannah Lyn Delos Santos of the Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence presented on raising awareness of domestic abuse, family violence, and sexual assault.
The fashion style module was presented by Miss Earth Northern Marianas 2023 Jan Zowie Cruz, who discussed wardrobe based on body shapes, what not to wear, accessories, footwear, and pageant attire.
Miss Earth Northern Marianas 2024 Heavenly Divine Pangelinan shared beauty pageant tips and answered the candidates’ questions.
Aldwin Ray Batusin, chairman of the pageant board, discussed the scoring process to help the candidates understand how the judges will evaluate them.
Ernie Molina, the pageant’s choreographer and director, presented “The Walk” module, which teaches candidates the pageant walk, poses, and other essential techniques.
The boot camp training lasted seven hours.
This year’s “Gandang Pinay” candidates are Zandra Caine Mariano, Aislinn Laxamana, Ashley Mae Gabriel, Sophia Gerardino, Lyann Kriztel Dela Cruz, Analine Barcelo, Chiaralei Mendoza, Dennice Pedrano, Donna Rose Santiago, and Angel Lou Buensalido.
The Bayani Association is grateful to Dee Clayton, president of Exquisite Production Marianas, who donated cash during the boot camp, and to D’Elegance Café, Sunny Side, Gold Ribbon, JTM Snack Bar & BBQ Grill & Catering, Ocean Star, and Shirley Wilson’s Catering Services for providing lunch to the candidates, parents, guests, and volunteers.
All presenters received certificates of recognition for their valuable time and support.
Bayani Association President Yoland De Ramos also expressed her special thanks and appreciation to all the parents “who are supportive of our candidates. For sure, even they learned something from the training,” she said.
