THE Senate on Friday honored the special assistant for military affairs and the chief of the Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs, retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Edward C. Camacho, for his distinguished military service and dedicated sacrifice for the freedoms of the people of the CNMI and the U.S.

Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero presented Camacho, who is also a former Department of Public Safety commissioner, with a framed copy of Senate Resolution 23-34, joined by the other members of the 23rd Senate during a break from their sine die session.

“Thank you so much,” Camacho said. “It’s been great serving our Commonwealth and the United States government as a soldier. And I’m so happy that we are here together.”

Deleon Guerrero, who authored S.R. 23-34, shared that her mother used to babysit Camacho. She extended her congratulations to him on behalf of both herself and her mother.

The Senate, through the resolution, recognizes Camacho’s “devoted outstanding service and contributions to the nation for over 43 years of combined military, security, and academic experience; over 20 years of professional advising experience; and more than 10 years of experience in law enforcement and security operations, training, and education both in his military and civilian careers.”
