2024 Miss Earth Northern Marianas, Heavenly Pangelinan, helped make the holidays merry and bright for local children by collecting, wrapping, and delivering toys around the island on Dec. 23.
Pangelinan was at the Center for Independent Living, the Family and Youth Enhancement Program office, and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation’s Pediatrics Ward to give gifts she solicited from community partners.
Pangelinan said it made her feel “very privileged” to be able to assist the community on Christmas.
“One of my favorite memories of this event is watching all [the children] open their gifts and seeing their faces light up,” she told Variety. “It’s a surreal feeling to know that I was able to make someone’s Christmas a little brighter.”
She said she gave over 100 gifts to island children and young adults.
“I don’t have an exact number,” she said. “I truly don’t think it’s about how much or how many, either, but what’s more important are the hearts I’ve touched and the difference I’ve made in anyone’s holiday season. Even if it was just one person or child, it still counts. They were all so full of joy and appreciative.”
