A red Camaro driven by a drunk minor struck a pedestrian before slamming into a power pole on Beach Road near Quartermaster Road early Sunday morning.
A 46-YEAR-OLD man is in critical condition after being hit early Sunday morning near Quartermaster Road on Beach Road by a red Camaro driven by a female minor under the influence of alcohol, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop said the incident was reported Sunday at 2:51 a.m.
“The red Camaro had two occupants,” he added. “The driver and front passenger are both 17-year-old females. The operator was charged with DUI. Minor injuries were reported. Both [were] transported to [the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.], treated and later released. Their vehicle sustained extensive damage,” Manacop said.
He said prior to the incident, the “Chevy Camaro was traveling north on Beach Road when it veered off the road and skidded approximately 586 feet along the northbound shoulder and collided with three posted signs before striking the pedestrian. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop after crashing into a power pole.”
According to DPS, the pedestrian is a 46-year-old man who sustained serious injuries.
“The pedestrian was transported by [the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services] to CHCC and admitted for further treatment,” Manacop said.
“The pedestrian is still in critical condition,” he added.
