THE Last Shot Hobbies Sharks ruled the Tuesday division of the 2024 SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League by outhustling the Black 8 Ideal Signs Rustlers, 9-4, in the finals at the Last Shot Bar on Tuesday night.
In the opening set of the Partners 8-Ball games, the Hobbies Sharks’ Marc Brian Nelvis and Frankie Blas defeated the Rustlers’ Chester Hamoy and Rowel “Cobra” Mariano. In turn, the Rustlers’ Roman Rodriguez and Robert Sanciangco bested the Hobbies Sharks’ Rey Pinangay and Nolan Cultura for the first deadlock of the match, 1-1.
In the one-on-one scene, the Rustlers started to gain the edge after Hamoy bagged the first of the Singles 8-Ball games. Teammate Toto Bigcas nearly cleared the table, but after an attempt to hide the ball, the Hobbies Sharks’ Blas ran the rack and celebrated by sheathing his pool stick like a sword.
Following Blas’ dramatic victory, the next two games were split between both teams, resulting in another deadlock, 3-3.
The Hobbies Sharks then pulled a two-win sweep in the next set of the Partners 8-Ball games to grasp the lead, 5-3.
In the second set of the Singles 8-Ball games, the Hobbies Sharks triumphed 3-1.
Cultura won the first game in the next set of Singles 8-Ball games to acquire the ninth and final win needed to solidify their victory, 9-4, and win the division title.
The Hobbies Sharks ended the season with 181 wins and 92 losses while the Rustlers settled for second place with 159 wins and 114 losses and the Last Shot Raiders came in third with 158 wins and 115 losses.
